Right There is recruiting an experienced and motivated Housing Services Manager to lead the mobilisation, development and day-to-day delivery of our Edinburgh housing services. This is an excellent opportunity to establish new programmes under the Private Rented Accommodation and Supported Lodgings frameworks, build strong local partnerships and make sure people receive high-quality housing management and support.
You will work closely with the Head of Housing, Edinburgh Locality Manager, Housing Development Partner and senior colleagues. As the services grow, you will lead Tenant Liaison Workers and Housing Support Workers, creating the systems, culture and standards that help people sustain their tenancies, build independence and move forward positively.
Right There has stood alongside people in Scotland for more than 200 years. Last year, we supported almost 4,000 people to stay in their homes and remain connected to the people they love. We meet people where they are, without judgement, and tailor our support to each person’s strengths, circumstances and route home.
Your Role
- Lead the mobilisation and implementation of Edinburgh’s Private Rented Accommodation and Supported Lodgings programmes.
- Develop practical procedures, referral pathways and service delivery processes, with clear quality assurance and performance monitoring.
- Oversee housing management, allocations, occupancy, tenancy sustainment, risk and positive transitions into and out of accommodation.
- Lead person-centred, strengths-based and trauma-informed support, ensuring support plans, risk assessments, reviews and safeguarding responsibilities are completed effectively.
- Work with property colleagues to maintain safe, compliant and fit-for-purpose accommodation, including effective inspections, repairs reporting, void management and statutory compliance.
- Build trusted relationships with the City of Edinburgh Council, landlords, letting agents, referral partners and organisations across the homelessness sector.
- Recruit, induct and manage staff as services expand, promoting reflective practice, wellbeing, professional development and safe ways of working.
- Monitor contractual KPIs, produce clear performance information and lead continuous improvement, complaints and incident responses.
- Support approved annual budget planning and management, and take part in an on-call rota when required.
What you’ll bring
You will have experience in housing management and tenancy sustainment, supported accommodation or housing support services, together with experience of mobilising, developing or implementing services. You will also bring:
- Experience of managing or supervising teams and working in partnership with local authorities and external agencies.
- Sound knowledge of housing legislation, homelessness services, temporary accommodation, tenancy sustainment and housing support principles.
- Experience of safeguarding and risk management, alongside an understanding of regulatory and quality assurance requirements.
- Strong communication, relationship management, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to balance competing priorities, analyse performance information, write clear reports and confidently use IT systems.
- A full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes, with insurance covering domestic and business use.
- A willingness to undertake further management or leadership qualifications where required.
It would be helpful if you also have
An SVQ Level 3, SCQF equivalent or relevant qualification in housing, social care or homelessness would be welcome. Knowledge of Care Inspectorate registered services, Supported Lodgings, commissioning or contract mobilisation, Edinburgh’s homelessness sector, or Psychologically Informed Environments would also strengthen your application.
