Could you use your counselling experience to help people feel safer, more confident and better able to move forward? Right There is looking for qualified Counsellors and Psychotherapists who can volunteer a few hours each week to support people accessing our programmes across Scotland.
Right There is a Scottish charity with 200 years of experience standing alongside people. We provide tailored support at home and in the community for people living with the effects of homelessness, poverty, addiction or family breakdown. We meet people with no judgement, build trusted relationships and offer the right support at the right time.
Your role
- Provide person-centred, one-to-one counselling, usually weekly and for up to 12 sessions.
- Offer a regular counselling session or manage a small caseload.
- Deliver sessions in person and, where appropriate, remotely.
- Where required, offer brief interventions or one-off therapeutic appointments.
- Maintain appropriate clinical records and contribute to service monitoring.
- Work flexibly within safeguarding, confidentiality, risk-management and clinical-governance procedures.
We would welcome applications from Counsellors or Psychotherapists who:
- Hold a recognised Counselling or Psychotherapy qualification.
- Are registered with BACP, UKCP, COSCA or another appropriate professional body.
- Are confident supporting adults, young people and/or children experiencing emotional and psychosocial difficulties.
- Understand safeguarding, confidentiality and risk management.
- Can commit reliably to an agreed weekly schedule.
Experience of working with homelessness, trauma, complex life circumstances or vulnerable populations would be particularly welcome, but is not essential.
Our Offer
- The opportunity to expand access to counselling for people who may face barriers to therapy.
- Experience within homelessness and community support services as part of an established Scottish charity.
- Relevant organisational training, induction, safeguarding support, internal supervision and clinical-governance arrangements.
- A flexible volunteering pattern that reflects both your circumstances and the needs of the people we support.
- The chance to build trusted relationships and make a lasting difference.
If you are a qualified practitioner who can offer a regular weekly commitment, we would love to hear from you.
