Are you are organised, calm on the phone and do you care about people having a safe place to call home? If so, this could be the next move for you.
Right There has spent 200 years standing alongside people in Scotland. Last year, almost 4,000 people got the support they needed to stay in their homes and stay connected to the people they love.
This role is about more than keeping records up to date. It is about making sure a tenant gets a helpful response, a landlord gets the right information and the paperwork is ready when someone moves into a home. You will provide administrative and front-line telephone support across our Help to Rent and Temporary Accommodation programmes within Short Term Housing.
Your Role
- Being a reassuring first point of contact. You will answer calls from tenants, landlords, partner agencies and colleagues, offering clear, respectful support, including when someone feels anxious or distressed. You will record enquiries accurately and make sure they reach the right person.
- Keeping the details right. You will prepare move-in packs and interview materials, update Housing Benefit information and maintain accurate records across Home Master, NICO (Salesforce), SharePoint, Excel and Outlook.
- Helping people move into a home. You will prepare leases, organise landlord and property documentation, and keep tenant records up to date from move-in to the end of a tenancy.
- Joining things up. You will liaise with landlords, allocation teams, community homelessness teams, Housing Benefit and Council Tax teams and support agencies, sharing information so colleagues can provide coordinated support.
- Making the practical things happen. You will manage stocks of bedding, crockery and other household essentials so people have a basic inventory pack for a safe and dignified move. You will also provide cover for the Utilities Coordinator.
- Supporting a service that works well. You will help collate information for audits, monitoring and performance reporting, contribute ideas for improvement and take part in training and development.
What you bring
Maybe you have built your experience in an office, a customer-facing service or a support team. You do not need to have followed one fixed route, but you will recognise yourself here.
- You have experience in an administrative or support role in a busy, service-focused environment.
- You are confident using different IT systems and digital tools to record, manage and share information accurately.
- You communicate clearly and respectfully, and can offer calm, supportive telephone contact to people who may be anxious or distressed.
- You organise and prioritise your workload, adapt when demands change and see tasks through to completion.
- You use initiative and sound judgement, solve practical problems and know when to ask for help or escalate an issue.
- You bring information together from different sources, work towards service priorities and contribute both independently and as part of a team.
An administration or IT qualification, or equivalent relevant experience, would be helpful. So would an understanding of the third sector and the challenges faced by people experiencing housing insecurity or disadvantage. These are desirable, rather than essential.
